How much protein do you think we need and how much do you currently eat?

Official guidelines recommend getting 10% of calories from protein. Too much protein actually causes digestive disorders, reduced liver and brain function, and high cholesterol! All plant foods contain protein- even fruit! If you eat too much protein your body actually turns the protein into carbohydrates through a very taxing process.

What the function of protein is in the body- they will probably say is to replenish dead cells and to grow- babies need the most protein because they are the ones who are growing! Mother’s milk is only made up of 5-6% of calories from protein! If babies only need that much then we certainly are okay! So might as well just eat more carbs and less protein 🙂

  2. Gah! I eat a great deal of fruits and nuts as snacks through the day, never really considered that there’d be ‘that’ much protein in them 😳
